Queensland Leaders Update April 2022

Queensland Leaders Update April 2022 - 2023 - Wattsnext Group

Ben and Anita attended the Queensland Leaders’ April event. It was the usual hustle and bustle of great local businesses getting together to share ideas and help each other out through what looks like to be another crazy year.

Trends in the market for this month appear to be:

  • Candidate shortage! This has now moved to a whole new level with estimated time to secure candidates in admin, sales and IT roles ranging from a minimum of 8 weeks to up to 3 months! If you are thinking you may need additional resources, please do not wait another day, get in the market, drop your preconceptions and be prepared to compromise;
  • Need to retain staff! Very much linked to the trend above, our clients are desperate to hang onto their people. It’s time to get creative with your retention strategies and look at benefits that are really beneficial for the specific individual;
  • Federal budget talks! Please read wattsnext full article here;
  • Public Holidays nightmare! Please read wattsnext full article here;

We were also so fortunate to meet what must be one of the most entrepreneurial not-for-profits of the years to come. Danielle and Debbie from RizeUp Australia were a delight to talk to. Nicolle Edwards’ organisation drives awareness of domestic and family violence within society by generating life-changing, practical support for the families affected, giving them the hope and empowerment to move on to a life free from violence.

With only a few multi-tasking and multi-skilled employees and over 1,000 volunteers, RizeUp is able to source critical items, clothing, services, set up and furnish new homes for families affected by domestic violence.

RizeUp does not receive government funds but is supported by amazing partners and donors. If you are interested in learning more about this phenomenal organisation and how they can change people’s lives here’s a link for you.
