The leadership hangover (and no, I'm not talking about the Christmas party)
Hi everyone!
While everyone else is sleeping off their holiday feasts, let’s talk about something real – that end-of-year leadership hangover that has nothing to do with eggnog.
watts not working: Pretending the year was perfect. Writing feel-good summaries about how great everything was. Planning ambitious 2025 goals without facing what really happened in 2024.
watts really happening: You’re carrying weight into 2025:
- That culture issue you didn’t address
- Those hard conversations you avoided
- The broken processes you worked around
- The changes you kept postponing
watts working: The most successful leaders I know use this quiet week between Christmas and New Year to get brutally honest. When everyone else is posting highlight reels, they’re doing the real work:
- Facing what didn’t work
- Owning their part in it
- Making tough decisions
- Getting ready for real change
watts the real game changer: Use this weird limbo week wisely. Instead of writing resolutions, write revelations:
- What actually worked (not what you hoped would work)
- What needs to stop (not what you wish would stop)
- What you’ve been avoiding (we all have something)
- What 2025 needs from you (not from everyone else)
Because great years don’t start with plans. They start with honesty.
Have a week of real reflection!
