What your team really wants (but isn't telling you)
Hello All,
I keep hearing the same frustration from leaders: “I don’t know what my people actually want anymore.”
watts not working: Guessing what matters to your team based on:
- What worked three years ago
- What you read in Fast Company
- What your competitors are doing
- What YOU would want if you were them
watts really happening: Your team has completely different priorities than they did even 18 months ago, but you’re probably investing in things they no longer value.
I worked with a tech company last month that was pumping money into fancy perks while their recent survey showed their team was desperately craving career development and one on one feedback. They were spending on yesterday’s priorities while their competitors were winning on today’s.
watts working: Smart companies are:
- Running anonymous third-party surveys twice yearly (because people tell the truth when they know it’s safe)
- Tracking changing priorities in real-time, not annually
- Adjusting their people investments based on actual data
- Making decisions with insight, not assumptions
watts the real game changer: Stop assuming you know what matters to your team.
Because what motivated people in 2024 isn’t what motivates them in 2025.
Have a weekend of real clarity!
